This is the one that started it all. In 2010, four friends opened the first Hopdoddy right here on South Congress Avenue — and the line out the door became as much a part of SoCo as the "I love you so much" mural and the bats under the bridge. Fifteen years later, we're still here, still serving locals and visitors on one of the most iconic streets in Austin. SoCo is vintage shops, street performers, food trucks, live music, and skyline views of the Capitol — and Hopdoddy has a front-row seat to all of it. Whether you're in town for SXSW, ACL, a convention at the Austin Convention Center, a bachelor or bachelorette weekend, or you just live in Bouldin Creek and want a Tuesday night burger, this is the spot. We're a short walk from Lady Bird Lake, Barton Springs Pool, the Continental Club, and the Congress Avenue Bridge bat colony — and we validate parking in the garage behind the restaurant. Everything here is made the way it should be — buns baked in-house, fries hand-cut from Chipperbec potatoes, and a full bar with hand-shaken margaritas, craft cocktails, local Austin drafts, and boozy milkshakes. We've been on this street since day one. Every other Hopdoddy exists because of this one. Come see where it started.

Looking for the best happy hour downtown? Hopdoddy hosts the happiest of them all with 1/2 off cocktails, beer & wine Monday through Thursday from 3-6PM. Our sliders are the perfect after work snack. And of course we have bowls & bowls of sharable fries - from Green Chile Queso to the famous Parmesan Truffle to Hot Honey Sweet Potato Fries.

Hopdoddy serves handcrafted burgers across a lineup you won't find anywhere else, from the rich, buttery Wagyu Smash to the sushi-inspired Ahi Tuna burger to the fiery El Diablo. With Angus beef, bison, tuna, chicken & a natural plant-based veggie patty on the menu, we think about burgers differently so you don't have to settle for the same old thing. Cutting carbs? Get your burger on a lettuce wrap or try our protein salad bowls. Our South Congress burger bar is located just 9 miles from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and is about a 14-minute drive without traffic.
Nearby Attractions
South Congress is one of the most popular destinations in Austin, Texas, and Hopdoddy has a front-row seat. Along the street, which goes all the way to the capital downtown, there’s a ton of unique shopping, street performers, coffee shops, and murals to take your picture next to. Located in the heart of South Austin, we’re also located very close to various swimming and outdoor experiences. Drive just 10 minutes to swim at the popular Barton Springs Pool, or rent a paddleboard and spend a few hours on Lady Bird Lake.
Parking
Parking on South Congress can be a bit tricky, which is why Hopdoddy validates parking in the garage right behind our restaurant. To enter the garage, turn west from S Congress Ave. onto Elizabeth St. or Gibson St. Near the restaurant, there’s also an abundance of street parking. For those picking up to-go orders, there is convenient, designated parking right next to the restaurant.
